Micromax Canvas A1 Android One Reviews And Full Specification Price Offer
Here is our first impression of Micromax Canvas A1, the third Android One smartphone after Spice Dreams Uno and Karbonn Sparkle V.
Micromax has announced its first Android One smartphone, the Canvas A1, for Rs 6,399. The handset is available via Amazon. It is the third Android One smartphone to be announced after the Spice Dreams Uno and Karbonn Sparkle V.At the launch event, we took the phone for a ride and here is our first impression but before that a recap of its features.
The Micromax Canvas A1 bears a 4.5-inch touchscreen display with 480x854 pixel resolution. Powered by a quad-core unspecified MediaTek mobile chipset, the Canvas A1 packs 1 GB RAM to run the system as well as apps smoothly. By default, the Canvas A1 runs Android 4.4 KitKat.
The Canvas A1 offers 4 GB on-board storage and memory card slot to add microSD card. At the back it offers a 5 megapixel camera and an LED flash for imaging. In the front, it has a 2 megapixel camera for holding video calls and video chats.
The Canvas A1 will have a Dual-SIM support and can accommodate at least one 3G network enabled SIM card. Other features include WiFi support, FM Radio, and more. Micromax has added 1700 mAh battery with is removable.
The Canvas A1 has a rubberised finish back panel, just like the Moto G. Needless to say it feels smooth and offers great grip. The instant highlight is its rear camera unit - a circular metallic plate that harbours the rear camera and the LED flash. Note that this plate is part of the phone's main body and does not come out when rear panel opened. This plate is however seems to be more than just a gimmick, it would definitely protect the camera lens and the LED flash but we will test it for a longer time before coming to a conclusion.
Coming back to the design, the back panel has the Micromax logo (in metal) and 'android one' written which comes out spectacularly in the black surface. The phone has got curved edges and sides that makes it comfortable to hold unlike sharp edge bearing phones. The weight of the phone-140 grams - though is a bit higher side for a 4.5 inch phone but it is not that drastic. Note that the phone comes in black and white colours.
Being a Android One device, the phone comes with the latest Android KitKat operating system. It will also get future Android updates. The Canvas A1 has also got a quad core processor and 1 GB RAM. There is Mali 400 MP2 GPU for graphics. The combination seems good enough for most tasks and games available on Google Play store. The phone also managed to get a decent score of 18171 on Antutu benchmark. We will talk about in length about its processing power in real life later during in-depth test.
Coming to its camera capability, the Canvas A1 comes armed with a 5 megapixel rear camera and a 2 megapixel front camera. Being a Google device, it is armed with the Google Camera. Ironically, we could not check its camera quality as the phone was not able to click any in absence of a micro SD card.
The Micromax Canvas A1 has decent looks and comes with appreciable features, much like the Moto E. It will be too early to pass a verdict about the performance of the smartphone but what we can say right away is that the display is quite good considering the price tag and overall it is a sturdy device.
But hold your horses till our in-depth review as there is likely to be plenty of stocks of the phone.
Islamic State Video Shows British Hostage Being Beheaded
The Islamic State group released a video Saturday of the third beheading
of a foreign hostage, a British aid worker, according to SITE
Intelligence, which tracks the jihadist groups. The killing was a clear
message to Britain, a key ally of the United States as it builds an
international coalition to target the militant group, which has made
stunning advances across Syria and northern Iraq in recent months.
The video shows the aid worker, David Cawthorne Haines, kneeling on a bare hill under the open sky, in a landscape that appears identical to where two American journalists were killed by the group in back-to-back-executions in the past month. In the moments before his death, the 44-year-old Haines is forced to read a script, in which he blames his country's leaders for his killing.
"I would like to declare that I hold you, David Cameron, entirely responsible for my execution," he said, referring to Britain's prime minister, David Cameron. "You entered voluntarily into a coalition with the United States against the Islamic State. Unfortunately, it is we the British public that in the end will pay the price for our Parliament's selfish decisions."
The video ends with the black-clad executioner identifying their next victim as Alan Henning, another British citizen.
The beheading of Haines puts pressure on Cameron's government, a member of a core coalition of nations announced as NATO leaders met in Wales this month and sought to devise a strategy to address the growing threat from the Islamic State, including plans to strengthen allies on the ground in Iraq and Syria and conduct airstrikes against the militants.
Britain and the United States are among the only nations in the world that have held to a hard-line, no-concessions policy when dealing with kidnappings by terrorist groups.
Until this year, the Islamic State was holding close to two dozen foreigners in the same jail where Haines was imprisoned on the outskirts of the Syrian town of Raqqa. His European cellmates were released for ransom, one after another, according to one of the hostages held alongside him who was recently freed after his government paid a ransom. Haines, who had a military background, was kidnapped 19 months ago in northern Syria and was held alongside an Italian co-worker, Frederico Motka.

Apple News- Apple to announce New iPhone 6 dustproof, waterproof iPhone 6: Report
Apple reportedly set to introduce the much awaited iPhone 6 and the iWatch smartwatch at the press event scheduled to start at 10:30 PM IST.
Apple had shared the invites for the event scheduled to launch the new generation of Apple products. Apple has been quite silent and placed no cryptic or obvious hints about the products likely to be launched at the said event. However, several speculations and leaks clearly hint the unveiling of the next generation iPhone model dubbed as iPhone 6. The Mobile Indian already reported that the new wearable currently being referred as iWatch is also set to be unveiled.Apple iPhone 6 can be referred as the worst kept secret or in a way, Apple losing grip on is super secretive methods of protecting the products from getting leaked before launch. Purported Apple iPhone 6 images were shared at the chinese CNBeta website.
As per the leaked images and reports so far, Apple has used new Sapphire glass display with curves at the edges. Somewhat similar to the 2.5D shape display being used in select smartphones so far. The screen is said to be stronger and sturdier than any other current generation smartphones. From the images, it is clear that the new iPhone 6 is indeed larger than the iPhone 5s and the image size is likely to be 4.7 inch. The iPhone 6 in the front has improved version of the TouchID integrated in the Home button. Also the position of the proximity sensor and front facing camera has been switched.
At the back is the new iSight camera with a slightly bigger microphone and True Tone LED Flash at the back. The iPhones 6 has curved frames instead of chamfered edges. Also, Apple has used strip style volume buttons instead of round buttons like in previous generation iPhone models. At the bottom are six holes for the speaker audio output. Apple will preload the iOS 8 version by default and feature a new Apple A series mobile chipset coupled along with the Motion processor. The images also show a new Health and subtle change in the Passbook App design.
Apart from the iPhone 6, Apple will also interest several gadget enthusiasts by announcing the wearables project with a device currently dubbed as iWatch. It is quite obvious that the Wearable device will also come from an smart operating system based on the current iOS and expect Software Development Kit announcement as well. Hundreds of concept images have hit the web and it is difficult to narrow down on the probable design.
