Review: He says it. She disagrees. He reacts. She overacts. He makes mistakes, he says sorry. She makes mistakes, 'he' says sorry. So there! Even geniuses like Socrates and Einstein couldn't crack a fool-proof plan to a 'happy marriage'. Even novel cosmic concepts like Men are from Mars and Women are from all over the place (lol!) can't explain this 'heavenly' intervention. So then? Let's take a look at Saket Chaudhary's insightful story of shaadi and its shocking effects.

Authors, playwrights, filmmakers have found a topic such as this very interesting indeed. Something that will always find them fanboys, fangirls or an audience in general. When you watch a film that talks about a man’s perspective, or a woman’s perspective, there is a fat chance that you will have related with some, if not all the scenes and dialogues.

Many years ago, Nora Ephron had written the classic tale of a love story that brews amidst various differences between a man named Harry and a woman named Sally. And then a few years later, we watched a similar story with a Bollywood touch to it in Kunal Kohli‘s Hum Tum. Ever realized how through it all, the story’s protagonists eventually do fall in love with each other and well, decide to live happily ever after?

That’s exactly what the latest talk of the town is – the Farhan Akhtar-Vidya Balan starrer, Shaadi Ke Side/Effects. The film is the sequel to the superhit new-age love story, Pyaar Ke Side/Effects, that had the supremely-talented Rahul Bose and bombshell Mallika Sherawat in the lead roles. Luv-shuv tak toh theek hai, par uske baad kya? The theatrical trailer that released 2 days back has already gone viral not just ’cause of the lead actors who revive Sid and Trisha’s characters after 7 long years, but also for its hilarious, relatable and in-the-face content. Not to forget the crackling chemistry that Farhan Akhtar and Vidya Balan share.

Why it is one of the films to watch out for in 2014, you may ask? It’s simple… Shaadi Ke Side/Effects clearly, is a real-life representation of the plight of the married man who deals with his new life, wife and a child. And, if that wasn’t enough, Farhan Akhtar plays the troubled married man with much panache. His witty humor from Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara shall make a welcome comeback. But wait… you can’t miss the Venus in this story. Vidya Balan’s performances have only gotten better through the years, and there is little chance that one does not sing praises for this immensely-gifted and beautiful actress.

The film opens in theaters in February 2014 and has been directed by Saket Chaudhary, who made his Bollywood debut with the film’s prequel. The film also stars Purab Kohli, Ram Kapoor and Vir Das. Perhaps, this will be THE  film that is able to decide who the winner of the ultimate battle is.
